College Drive Reconstruction
South 6th Street West Frontage Rd (Imp 10-02)

The project consists of a total reconstruction of the South 6th West Frontage Road from the Brainerd Medical Center entrance (BMC) to the northern end by the Trinity Lutheran entrance. Construction is needed due to the poor pavement condition and the poor drainage or the road. Construction will consist of a complete reconstruction of the street including adding curb and gutter to one side of the road to assist drainage. The storm sewer system will be partially reconstructed. The project is scheduled to begin in early June and be completed by the end of July. The project is being funded through assessments to adjacent property owners, city funds and utility funds the water and for portions of the storm sewer.


NW 6th Street and Charles Street (Imp 10-12)

The project consists of resurfacing six blocks in NW Brainerd. Charles St from NW 8th to NW 3rd and NW 6th from Charles to Washington Street will be resurfaced. Work will consist of removing the pavement and replacing it with a lager pavement section to handle the large amounts of commercial traffic. Some minor curb and gutter will be repaired and a sanitary manhole will be removed. The road will be open to local businesses during construction. Construction is expected to take three to four weeks. The project is scheduled to begin late May and be completed by the end of June. The project is being funded through assessments to adjacent property owners and with city funds.t


South 7th Street (Imp 10-06)

This project consists of a complete reconstruction of S 7th St from Paul St to Vine St. Construction is needed due to the poor pavement condition of the road and sanitary sewer system which is in need of replacement. Construction will consist of replacing the sanitary sewer system, replacing two blocks of watermain, replacing the curb and gutter, replacing the pavement section and improving the storm sewer facilities. The project is scheduled for late summer and early fall so better access can be provided to residents using Bane Park during the summer baseball season. The project is expected to begin in early August and be completed by mid October. The project is being funded city funds and utility funds for the sanitary sewer, water and portions of the storm sewer.


SE 19th Street (Imp 10-14)

This project includes the reconstruction and replacement of sanitary sewer on SE 19th St from the south end to Oak St. The project is needed due to poor condition of the sanitary sewer system and road. Work involved on the project includes complete replacement of the sanitary sewer and replacement of the pavement section on the road. The existing curb and gutter will remain. Some minor storm sewer work is also included. The road will be open to local traffic only. The project is scheduled to begin after July 16, 2010 and be completed by Labor Day. The project is being funded through assessments to adjacent property owners, city funds and utility funds for the storm sewer and sanitary sewer.


North 2nd Street (Imp 10-15)

This project consist of replacing sanitary sewer north of Kingwood St between N 1st and N 2nd and resurfacing N 2nd St from Washington to Ivy St. Construction is needed due to sanitary sewer maintenance issues and the poor pavement on N 2nd. The work will be done in conjunction with Centerpoint Energy who will be replacing a large gas main. Work will consist of replacing one block of sanitary sewer pipe and replacing the pavement section on N 2nd St. Since N 2nd St is the emergency route to St. Josephs Hospital, a detour will be set up N 3rd St. The detour will be set up during the entire time of construction which should last one month.

A half a block of sanitary sewer will also be replaced in the alley south of Grove St between N 4th and N 5th. The road and alley that are disturbed will be replaced after the new sewer is installed.

Construction is anticipated to begin in mid-May and be completed by June 17. The project is being funded through assessments to adjacent property owners, city funds and utility funds for the sanitary sewer.


Seal Coat (Imp 10-18)

This project includes seal coating various streets in the City of Brainerd. Streets included with the project are; Island Dr, Sunset Way, N Pacific Rd, Blacksmith Rd, 28th St, Blair St, Addison Ave, Clara St, S 11th St from Thiesse Rd to Industrial Park Rd, Thiesse Rd from the west end to CSAH 45, Ridge Ct, Aspen Ct and Ridge Dr from Buffalo Hills Lane to the Buffalo Hills Lane. The project is being done to maintain the pavement quality in the long term. The project will only prevent parking on the road the day the work is being done. The project is scheduled to take place in July or August with the actual construction taking 2 to 3 days. The project is being funded through City funds.
