About the Brainerd Fire Department:

On the Job Every Day
Fire Protection for those we serve is provided by a 40 member department consisting of 6 full time and 34 volunteers. The fire station at 23 Laurel Street is manned 7 days a week, 24 hours a day.

Training for Excellence
Fire fighters spend hundreds of hours each year training both at the Fire Station and at special schools. Fire fighters must stay abreast of the latest technological changes in firefighting, equipment, hazardous materials, emergency medical service, and heavy rescue.

Here to Serve You
The Fire Department offers classes on Fire Extinguisher use, General Fire Safety and programs to our schools. Residents may stop in or call if they have any questions or would like a group class.

Making Buildings Safe for You
The Fire Department conducts pre-fire planning and fire safety inspections, working with business and property owners to assure fire safety- We also work with the City Building Inspector on new buildings to provide a fire safe environment.

911 Puts Time on Your Side
Small fires double in size every few seconds. Even smoke can hurt you and your family. Put time on your side and call 911 first when you think you have a fire, get everyone out and then try to put it out if it is still small.

Station tours can be arranged for groups by calling 828-2312. Pre-arranged tours allow us the opportunity to give your group our undivided attention. Families and individuals should feel free to visit us anytime, or if you wish to call us with a question please feel free to do so.

Working With Families
Please contact us with any questions or concerns about fire safety for you or your family. Our Fire Department also offers “juvenile fire setter” counseling for those parents who may have a concern about their child’s fascination with fire. This is a free service and confidential. Call the Fire Chief at 828-2312 for more information on this program.
