The purpose of the pond hockey leagues is to give participants an opportunity to improve skating skills, learn the game of hockey, and have fun. Scores and standings will not be recorded. Teams are co-ed. Volunteer coaches are needed. Please contact the Parks and Recreation Department if you would like to coach.

Who Can Play
The pond hockey league is for youth of ages 7 - 10 (Penguins) and 11 - 15 (Polar Bears). Whatever the player's age is on January 1, 2020 determines the age classification for this program.
Parents' Meeting & Equipment Pickup
The meeting will be from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. on Saturday, December 21, at the Mill Avenue Park warming house. Parents who register online on or after the deadline should bring proof of registration. Helmets, elbow pads, and shin pads are provided. Goaltender equipment is also provided. Participants must provide their own sticks, skates, mouth guards, and gloves.
The first practice for both age groups will be at 6 p.m. on Thursday, January 2, 2020, at Mill Avenue Park skating rinks. Games for both age groups will begin January 11, 2020.
Coaches determine the practice schedule, usually at 6 p.m., once or twice per week. Games are usually played on Saturday mornings at Mill Avenue Park or Nisswa, depending on the schedule. Starting in February, some games will be played in the evenings during normally scheduled practice times.
