​South 6th Street Reconstruction - Joseph Street to Washington Street - Improvement 12-14 - 2018 Construction


The Minnesota Department of Transportation in conjunction with the City of Brainerd are planning a reconstruction of South 6th Street (Business 371).  This will include replacement of all curb and gutter, sidewalk, watermain, sanitary sewer main, storm sewer, and surfacing along the route.  
This project is scheduled for 2018.

NW Brainerd Street Resurfacing Project - 11 Blocks of Street Resurfacing in NW Brainerd - Improvement 16-10 - 2017 Construction


The City of Brainerd is currently in the design phase to resurface 11 blocks of street in NW Brainerd.  The streets currently in the design phase can be seen below:

  • NW 8th Street: Charles Street to Washington Street and Washington Street to James Street
  • NW 7th Street: Charles Street to Washington Street
  • NW 5th Street: Williams Street to Washington Street
  • NW 3rd Street: Washington Street to James Street
  • James Street: NW 8th Street to NW 6th Street and NW 4th Street to NW 2nd Street
  • Williams Street: NW 5th Street to NW 4th Street
This work consists of removing the existing bituminous and gravel section, preparing a new sub-grade, and rebuilding a new section to a 9 Ton design standard with new gravel base and bituminous surfacing.  There is also minor curb and gutter, driveway and storm sewer work to be done in conjunction with this project.  Project is projected to be started and completed in the spring/summer/fall of 2017.

​South 6th Street East Frontage Road Reconstruction Project - CR 117 (Industrial Park Road) to Wright Street - Improvement 15-12 - 2017 Construction


The City of Brainerd is currently in the design phase to reconstruct the S 6th Street East Frontage Road from CR 117 (Industrial Park Road) to Wright Street.  

This work consists or removing the existing bituminous and gravel section, preparing and re-grading the entire sub-grade, placement of new storm sewer and curb and gutter, and replacement of the gravel and bituminous section to meet a 7 Ton design standard.  The project is projected to be started and completed in the spring/summer/fall of 2017.
